Excellent analysis, sir! I sometimes pause to think and wonder if I’m going to be caught up in this as well. I’m after all a first generation immigrant, done by the book and fully legit according to the laws and rules of the land at the time my naturalization happened. But I see frequent signs of antipathy towards my kind as well. I’m the stereotypical Indian IT guy who came in via that infamous visa program and “stole away IT jobs” from deserving Americans because I was part of the cheap labor influx. No amount of explanation of my journey will suffice for those who view it from a particular lens. My entrepreneurial instincts tell me I should try and join the “gold rush”. My conscience cautions me to pause and think otherwise. I’m firmly on the side of preventing illegal immigration. But taking other steps as the present administration seems to be doing, including birthright citizenship, is a step too far and could go down the slippery slope of retroactive action. I’ve seen it happen in some other parts of the world and who knows where this could go. Keep doing the good work you’re doing. This is as fair and balanced as it gets.
